Import an Existing Catalog

Import pieces from a CSV file

CSV import is a fast way to add many pieces to your Sage Score library at once using data you already have in a spreadsheet or another catalog system.

Sage recognizes common column names, automatically maps clear matches, and lets you review or adjust the remaining fields before importing.

Need a different way to build your library? See Adding pieces to your library for an overview of all available import and entry methods.

Upload your CSV file

From the Add to your library window, select Import CSV from the mode selector at the top.

Drag and drop your CSV file into the upload area, or select Choose file to browse for it.

Sage will skip empty rows during import.

If you do not already have a CSV prepared, select Download CSV template for a starting point.

Review the import mapping

After your file uploads, Sage analyzes the column names and tries to match them to Sage Score fields.

Clear matches are mapped automatically. For example, a column labeled Title may automatically map to the Title field.

Columns Sage cannot confidently place appear under Unmapped columns.

Adjust the field mapping

Review the proposed mapping before importing.

You can drag and drop column labels to rearrange them or map additional columns to the appropriate Sage Score fields.

Depending on your CSV, available fields may include:

  • Title

  • Composer

  • Arranger

  • Publisher

  • Voicing & Instrumentation

Some Sage fields can accept information from more than one incoming column. For example, separate first-name and last-name columns may both be mapped to Composer, or several instrumentation-related columns may be mapped into Voicing & Instrumentation.

Any columns you do not want to import can remain unmapped.

Import the pieces

Once the mapping looks correct, select Import.

Sage will create library entries using the mapped data from your CSV.

Because the mapping is reviewed before import, your existing spreadsheet does not need to match Sage Score's exact column structure before you upload it.
